Re-elect Jon Meyer for School Board

Four Generations of Commitment to Educating LBUSD students

For Jon Meyer, the Long Beach Unified School District truly is a family affair. Four generations of Meyers have devoted their life’s work to educating the district’s children.  The local schools have been a part of Jon Meyer’s life since the day he was born.

Jon Meyer’s grandfather taught in the district.  Jon’s father was a member of the first graduating class at Wilson High School and later became an LBUSD teacher.  Meyer also graduated from Wilson as did his wife, Sylvia, and their two children.  Both of the Meyers are former LBUSD school teachers and their son, Scott, currently teaches in the district.

Meyer was born and raised and has lived his entire life in the LBUSD’s Fourth District, comprising the Belmont Shores/Naples area of Long Beach and Catalina Island.  After graduating from Wilson, Meyer earned his undergraduate degree at Stanford University and his graduate degree at California State University, Long Beach.  In addition to teaching high school history, Meyer has worked as an athletic coach and principal in the LBUSD.
